The Peaks club had a mighty BBQ as the final Sundays walks finish until September when we are back on the mountains for our organised walks. All is not finished as we still have the Wednesday evening walks which finish on 30th July. The Wednesdays walks leave Eldon’s at 18.30 sharp for about a 3 hour walk in our local mountains. This is no gentle stroll so full mountain gear is required and a snack. The break up party in Graigue was a huge success with one of the finest gathering of the peaks members seen for some time. Glorious weather, good leaders and gorgeous food were the principal ingredients. All the walks started from Graigue and rendezvous at the statue above the Baylough car park. Fr P J Fagan celebrated the annual mass for deceased members and it was a special event which gave our final seasons walk a focus. All peaks members remember the walks of past years and friends departed and were with them in spirit. After the mass it was the long downhill walk back to Graigue where the highly skilled catering team had steaks, burgers, sausages, salads, buns, pavlova and cheese cake in ample proportions. When fed and watered the Peaks club relaxed with some refreshments of choice and exchanged reminiscences of walks and member’s past in a beautiful setting. This location was a winner and the word on the ground is that a repeat is a go for next year. The evening finished when our ever dependable bus driver Sean called for the club to bring them back to town after a memorable day in the Knockmealdown Mountains. The Peaks Club wish to thank all the landowners and business premises which have facilitated our club in any way and wish them good health and fortune for the future. See you again on the 7th September on Slievenamon for the first walk of the new season and if you have any queries on the club please contact the PRO Bernard Lennon on mobile no 0862937220
