The early walk started on Avondhu way just outside Clogheen, and followed forest path up to Beal lough.Ray Prendergast leading turned due west and followed path over as far as Knockshanalullion, climbed North face to summit, where the hardy crew had lunch inside the cairn. The weather on top very windy, misty, cold and the miserable conditions encouraged a short lunch break. Ray then headed south and picked up the Avondhu way again and followed the path back towards the Vee. He then returned to cars using various paths through the rhodendrons and forest at a lower level and with some shelter. The numbers of walkers were eleven and the total distance covered 22.5kilometers with a height gain 1250 meters. Kevin O Donnell with assistance from Nuala O Connell led the noon walk and Kevin started from the “Duckponds” and using the Munster way and local knowledge to the base of Roche’s Hill. Kevin led up the side of the hill and had it in mind to lunch at the two lakes under Knockmealdown but Mother Nature was in a foul mood with wind, mist and poor visibility a change in plans was needed. Kevin and Nuala took a side track to the meeting of the waters and back to the trail head and the cars
